Early Beginnings

The Robinson Family has deep roots in transportation, tracing back to a time before motorized freight was common. JL Robinson, starting as a teenager working in a livery stable, quickly became known for his hard work and integrity. By 1929, he had founded Northeast Texas Motor Freight (N.E.T.), among the first motor-freight companies in the region. N.E.T. expanded across North Texas and into Oklahoma, establishing a significant network during an era of stringent regulations.

Building on Tradition

After JL Robinson's passing in 1950, his son carried on the family tradition, working in the industry until he founded his own company, Lone Star Transportation Service (LSTS), in 1971. LSTS thrived as a family business just like its predecessor. In 1996, Curtis Robinson, another family member, branched out to acquire Manufacturers Transportation INC., which eventually evolved into Copper Express.

Growth and Expansion

Initially, as a freight brokerage, Copper Express struggled to find trucks for less popular routes. Responding to this challenge, Curtis expanded the company in 1997 by acquiring a small fleet of trucks to ensure capacity. Over the years, as the industry evolved and customer needs shifted, it became evident that Copper Express was poised for larger roles in client relationships. With strategic input from his sons, Curtis guided the company through significant growth, maintaining its strong reputation built on family values and customer commitment.
